Training to Support Your Entire Station

Customized training, accelerators, and resources

PRX Training has also helped multiple public media stations launch new shows, expand audience reach, explore new revenue sources, and help build a bench of talent in front of and behind the mic. Here are just a few examples:

  • WAMU in Washington D.C. and WFYI in Indianapolis reached millions of people nationwide with their podcasts produced during Project Catapult, a podcast accelerator developed by PRX.

  • In the same accelerator, Wyoming Public Radio, KPBS, Louisville Public Media, and East Tennessee PBS deepened their relationships with their listeners by creating podcasts rooted in their communities.

  • PRX has consulted and led one-on-one workshops with KERA in Dallas, KCUR in Kansas City, KJZZ in Phoenix, and WFUV in New York.

The PRX Training Team offers customized training and resources to media creators and organizations of all sizes around the world, including mentorship-based podcast accelerator programs, tailored workshops, consultancies, webinars, and more.

The PRX Podcast Garage

The PRX Podcast Garages are community recording studios, event spaces, and classrooms for workshops, networking, and listening events. Our flagship Garage opened in Boston in 2016, and in 2021, we partnered with KQED in San Francisco to open a space within the station’s new headquarters: the PRX Podcast Garage at KQED.

We want to work with you!

PRX is open to exploring new partnerships with stations across the system, whether through “brick and mortar” spaces or pop-up, virtual, or other collaborations, regardless of size and access to studios or space available.

Make a commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility with PRX

PRX believes a strong commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility (IDEA) is central to our mission and the health of public media. We approach our work and journey through a lens of equity and inclusion while recognizing and respecting that learning also lies ahead. We also acknowledge that our work with stations builds strength and resilience across the public media system.

Training and consultation

  • We now offer IDEA consultations to stations that have identified this as a need and are looking for structure and support. Services will be provided on a sliding cost scale and customized for each station's needs.

  • We offer rigorous assessment and co-created roadmaps to address areas of opportunities found during an appraisal. We also provide support for employee resource groups and diversity councils. Our coach approach is free of judgment while building toward more inclusion.

Our IDEA efforts a led by Dr. Byron Green, PRX’s Senior Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Reach out to learn more or explore a collaboration with PRX!
