2 below zero is dedicated to creating thoughtful, thought-provoking public radio documentaries. It was founded by Todd Melby and Diane Richard, a pair of Minneapolis-based producers and reporters. 2 below zero stories and documentaries are now available for licensing through the "Todd Melby" account on PRX.
Radio stories produced by Todd and Diane have aired on national public radio shows such as Marketplace, The World and Only a Game. And on lots of individual public radio stations, including Chicago Public Media, Minnesota Public Radio, Prairie Public and New York Public Radio. Their work has won multiple national journalism awards, including a pair of Edward R. Murrow awards and a Sigma Delta Chi award from the Society of Professional Journalists. In addition, Todd is the recipient of a Localore grant from the Association for Independents in Radio. That grant resulted in the project Black Gold Boom: How Oil Changed North Dakota.
